How balanced is your life? What do you think?

During the Corona pandemic a lot of people have changed many things in their lives, particularly work and lifestyle routines.
Suddenly we could not work as much as we were used to anymore.
Suddenly we had more free time.
In the beginning it might have been a little difficult to adjust to this change and to all this leisure time but after a few weeks of forced leisure, most of us actually started enjoying it.
Many people I have spoken to loved the fact that they could finally catch up on things they had neglected for years.
This might have been tidying their basement or working in their garden, spending more time with their children and grand-children or even just lying in a hammock and reading a good old book.
Listening to people tell me this, made me realize one thing:
Our Work–Life–Balance has been very much out of balance lately!
Most of us have been working too much and living too little.
We always rush around like busy bees and even if we had some time to relax, we would not allow ourselves to enjoy it, let alone admit that we even had it. Don’t ever admit that you have time to read a book or look at the clouds in the sky, your friends might think you are lazy, … “unproductive”!
We need to show our productivity at all times and we proudly wear our stress and overwhelm around the neck like a gold medal.
No more, I say!
I want to be able to sit and read a book again, without feeling guilty!
I want to be able to enjoy a leisurely cup of coffee and a chat with my husband again, without rushing off after three minutes because I have soooo much to do!
I want to be able to tell my friends that I am fine and well-rested, happy and well-balanced instead of telling them that I am so stressed and rushed off my feet I don’t even remember my name anymore!
To tell you the truth, I have consciously practiced a healthy work-life balance for a while already and you know what I have noticed?
When our work-life balance is healthy, when we feel well-rested and relaxed, we actually work a lot more efficient than when we are stressed, overwhelmed and over-worked.
So, if you take two hours for yourself today and do something that fills you with joy and happiness, you will find that you will be able to do the same work (if not better!) in six hours that you would normally have done in eight.
Believe me, this might sound impossible to you, but I have tested it again and again and it is true!
So, get your hammock out and put up those feet!
